  • As a Latina of Mexican descent, I deeply believe in the healing power of connecting with our cultural strengths and the resilience of our ancestors. I understand firsthand the complexity of navigating personal values alongside traditional Latino beliefs, having had to find my own middle ground. My journey to explore and embrace my culture truly took shape during graduate school, and I love guiding others in discovering the role culture plays in their lives.

I am especially passionate about working with Latinas who want to celebrate and embrace the parts of our culture that empower them, while thoughtfully letting go of the parts that may no longer serve them. Together, we can honor both our heritage and our personal growth in a way that feels authentic and fulfilling.

About Me

Samantha Calvillo, DSW, LCSW

I offer affirming, culturally rooted care that honors your story and centers empowerment and healing. I'm originally from a small agricultural town in Central California, and now live near the beach with my partner and our two very vocal Siamese rescue cats. My journey into this work began with a love for learning and a deep desire to understand people and the world around us. That path led me to study sociology and ultimately to clinical social work, where I found a sense of purpose in helping others heal.

In our sessions, I take time to learn about your history—your culture, family, health, and the experiences that have shaped you. I believe therapy should be a collaborative process, so we’ll work together to set meaningful goals and choose evidence-based approaches that best fit your needs. I love working with clients who are ready for change, and I’ll be right there with you every step of the way.
